Ingram Micro Event Raises $20,000 For Buffalo Sled Hockey
The Buffalo Sabres Sled Hockey organization extends a huge thanks to the employees of Ingram Micro for their fund-raising efforts and generosity following an event that raised $20,000 to benefit Buffalo Sled Hockey.
Ingram employees held a series of fund-raisers in their office, and also a benefit game against their Canadian coworkers as an additional fund-raiser on April 2 at Niagara University's Dwyer Arena.
The event also featured a sled hockey exhibition game between two Buffalo Sabres teams, as well as opportunities to try sled hockey.
The $20,000 donation will help Buffalo Sled Hockey support its two largest costs: equipment and ice time.
Junior, Senior Teams Win New England Invitational Championships
The Buffalo Sabres Sled Hockey junior and senior teams won their respective championships at the New England Invitational Sled Hockey Tournament on April 17 at Amelia Park, Mass. It was the final game of the season for both teams.
The senior team needed overtime before defeating the NEP Wildcats, 5-4, on a long shot from Jeff DeGlopper that found the back of the net. It was the fourth goal of the game for DeGlopper.
In the Junior game, the Sabres needed overtime and a shootout period to defeat the Virtua Wings of Steel, one day after tying the same team. In the shootout, Tyler Ball and Jared Cutler both scored, giving Buffalo a 3-2 win, while Virtua scored just once in the shootout.
Intermediate B Team Plays To Tie
The Buffalo Sabres Sled Hockey Intermediate B team played rival Mississauga to a 1-1 tie in Mississauga on March 5 in Mississauga.
Chase Irwin scored the Sabres lone goal, while Pierce Dunne made dozens of saves to keep the game close.
Intermediate B Team Shuts Out North Cumberland
The Buffalo Sabres Sled Hockey Intermediate B team faced off in a rematch against North Cumberland on Feb. 26, and shut out their opponent 3-0 in Rideway, Ont. The victory evened the score after the Sabres suffered a 3-2 loss to the same team one week earlier.
A strong team effort led the Sabres to victory. Daniel Murray notched his second hat trick in the past three games. Kyle Dominiak and Tyler Ball recorded assists.
Pierce Dunne had another strong effort in goal, earning the shutout and securing the win. He got strong help from his defensive teammates including Patrick Smith.
Highlights From Disabled Festival 2010
The Buffalo Sabres Sled Hockey teams traveled to Laurel, Md., for USA Hockey's Disabled Festival 2010 to compete against teams from around the United States.
The Junior Team was winless in three games but there were nonetheless many highlights, including those from the video below. Junior team scorers were Tyler Ball and Nathan Bryant.
Junior Team Wins Silver In OSHA Playoffs
The Buffalo Sabres Junior Sled Hockey team took second place in the OSHA playoffs, earning the silver medal after a strong league season.
The Juniors traveled to Whitby, Ont., to face Mississauga on March 27, and lost 1-0 in the championship game. Mississauga scored early to take the lead, and the Sabres were never able to even things up in a tight defensive game.
Congratulations to the Juniors on another successful league season. The team plays next at the Disabled Festival in Maryland, then in the Amelia Park Tournament in Massachusetts.
Juniors Advance To Finals Game With Win
The Buffalo Sabres Junior Sled Hockey team defeated visiting Hamilton, 1-0, at Buffalo State Arena on March 13. With the semi-final round win, the team advances to the championship on March 27 in Whitby.
The Sabres' Nick Walker continued with his hot scoring hand, getting the game's only goal early in the first period to give the Sabres the win. Pierce Dunne recorded his fifth consecutive shutout, with strong defensive help from his teammates.

Bufalo Sabres Win Exhibition at Skaneateles
The Buffalo Sabres Juniors shut-Out the Albany Ice Warriors 3-0 in Skaneateles N.Y in an exhibition game, on Saturday 2/19/10
Jeremy Fuller kept his goal streak alive with 2 goals. Also scoring for the Sabres was Chase Irwin.
Piece Dunne recorded his third consecutive shutout with help from his defensive teammates.
Sabres Juniors Are Super Explosive, Record Pair of Shutouts
The Buffalo Sabres Junior sled hockey team shut down the Hamilton Sledgehammers on Saturday, Feb. 13, in a rare home game at Buffalo State College by an impressive score of 4-0.
Tyler Ball got things rolling with a quick goal in the first period; Jeremy Fuller kept things going with another tally in the second, Matt Murray scored as a result of some nice moves around the goal, and rounding out the scoring for the Sabres was Zach Leroy. Pierce Dunne also had an exciting day when he recorded yet another shutout.
The Sabres kept things going on Sunday when they overpowered the Whitby Steel hawks in Ontario, winning 5-0. Nick Walker led the way, with two first period goals, including his first of the season. Tyler Ball kept his goal streak alive with two more against the Steelhawks. Nathan Bryant also racked up a goal for Buffalo; Pierce Dunne got another shutout but was not very busy due to the stellar play of his defensive teammates.
Buffalo Sabres Shine In London Tourney
The Buffalo Sabres Intermediate and Junior Sled Hockey Teams recently competed in the Blizzard Invitational Tournament in London, Ont. The Intermediate A team won the gold medal and the Junior Team took the silver medal.
The Junior team defeated London and Mid-Am in regular tournament play, but lost twice to Mississsauga, including in the championship game, to earn second place and the Silver Medal.
Sabres goal scorers included Zach Leroy, John Willis and Nathan Bryant. Pierce Dunne was stellar in goal.
Three junior players represented Buffalo in the tournament all-star game: Kyle Dominiak, John Willis and Patrick Smith.
